I am a conservation biologist, with particular interest in researching people’s attitudes, beliefs and knowledge about wildlife conservation and human-wildlife interactions (HWIs) in conservation translocations (CT). I am also interested in the overlap between environmental and social sustainability, the contribution of diverse knowledge systems and relational values that connect people and nature. In Brazil I worked with captive conservation of the maned wolf, and attitudes towards them in urban and rural areas of Sao Paulo state, which resulted in the publication of the book “Ecology and Conservation of the maned wolf”. In the UK I collaborate with practitioners, academics and government to promote the importance of HWIs and social dimensions in the conservation of native species and in CT planning. I am also interested in the role of zoos in helping form positive attitudes towards biodiversity conservation.
